BRYAN ROBSON may take the first step on his latest comeback trail tonight by playing for Manchester United reserves at Rotherham. The 35-year-old former England captain, who has been out since injuring a hamstring in July, will play if he passes a fitness test and if all goes well he could be on the substitutes' bench for United's Uefa Cup second leg against Moscow Torpedo in nine days' time.

Liverpool and Barnet are among several clubs under investigation over the appearance of black market tickets for last season's FA Cup final, the Football Association has confirmed. 'The FA have written to several clubs, including Barnet and Liverpool, asking how tickets allocated to them turned up on the black market,' the FA's David Bloomfield said.

The FA is also to investigate the circumstances surrounding the withdrawal of Maidstone from the Football League after the club collapsed in August with debts of pounds 700,000. Maidstone's hosts Dartford, whose Watling Street ground was sold and then closed, will also come under investigation.
