SWINDON TOWN'S altitude sickness worsened at The Dell last night when they slumped 5-1 to Southampton, their fourth successive defeat following their elevation to the Premiership, writes Henry Winter.

The Saints had started the game with a record as poor and pointless as Swindon's but their experience and endevaour soon told, Matthew Le Tissier shooting them into a two-goal lead with a half-volley and a header.

Jeff Kenna, Ian Dowie and Neil Maddison emphasised the divide before a former Dell boy, Craig Maskell, pulled one back from the spot. The one bleak moment for Southampton came when their highly rated defender, Richard Hall, was carried off after injuring his ankle.

At Molineux, Steve Bull recorded his 150th goal for Wolves in their 2-0 win over Millwall, whose cause was not helped by the early dismissal of Gavin Maguire for impeding David Kelly, the hosts' second scorer.
