Michael Ballack put a recent dispute with his coach Ottmar Hitzfeld firmly behind him by scoring both goals in Bayern Munich's 2-0 victory over Energie Cottbus in the Bundesliga.

The German international was fined recently for comments he made about Hitzfeld's tactics but his goals maintained Bayern's 10-point lead over Borussia Dortmund at the top.

The Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Hans Meyer resigned after a 2-2 draw with Schalke 04 left the club third from bottom of the table. Meyer will be replaced by Ewald Lienen, a former Cologne coach. Kaiserslautern remain bottom after a goalless draw against TSV 1860 Munich.

Elsewhere, Dortmund bounced back from their draw with Schalke last weekend by defeating Hansa Rostock 2-0. Bayer Leverkusen beat Werder Bremen 3-0, while Bochum lost 2-1 to struggling Hannover.

* Congo's Shabani Nonda sent Monaco back to the top of the French league with a late double as they won 3-1 at Lille on Saturday. Marseilles, who are now second on goal difference, were held to a goalless draw at Strasbourg. Bordeaux, who are six points back in third, beat Sochaux 2-0.
