The first El Clasico of the season between Barcelona and Real Madrid at the Camp Nou will take place on a Monday evening.

The game of the season has been set for November 29, with elections in Catalonia meaning that the game could not be played on Sunday November 28.

Barca media director Manel Arroyo told ONA FM: “The important thing was not to play on Saturday, that was our priority. If the clubs had decided, they would have played on Sunday.

“I understand that the decision was complex. We feel bad for those who are going to have to travel to the city on a working day.”

Real’s sporting director Miguel Pardeza added: “Monday was the choice that no-one wanted. However, it is operationally more suitable to play the game at that time.

“There is an important political process and we will have to adapt, but other times would have been more suitable.”
