Bayern Munich are thought to be targeting Julian Nagelsmann as their next manager - and the Hoffenheim boss has made it quite clear he is keen on taking the job.

The 30-year-old has become one of the most highly rated young coaches in Europe after guiding his side into the Champions League play-offs and won the Bundesliga's 'Manager of the Season' last term.

With rumours of a move to Bayern increasing after his side shocked the German champions 2-0 on Saturday, Nagelsmann has done nothing to temper the speculation. In fact he has only encouraged it.

"FC Bayern is playing a bigger role in my dreams," Nagelsman, who was born just outside the Bavarian capital, told Eurosport this week.

"I have lived in Munich for many years.

"My wife and my child are going to Munich soon. We are building a house there.

"We have a family connection there. This is our home."

Nagelsmann insists he will honour his contract with Hoffenheim which runs to the summer of 2021 and that his future happiness does not depend on a move Bayern.

Nevertheless, it is clear where his heart lays.

"I am very, very happy in my life," he added.

"FC Bayern would make me even a bit happier."

He even took time to massage the ego of Bayern president Uli Hoeness, who has previously praised the young manager's coaching skills.

"I am glad when a man like Uli Hoeness, who made Bayern so big, thinks decently of me."

As German daily Bild put it: It's probably not a matter of if Nagelsmann ends up at the Allianz Arena, but when.
