Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal has taken drastic action after responding to the club's below-par start to the Bundesliga season by cancelling a club tradition.
Following Sunday's 2-0 defeat at Borussia Dortmund - their third defeat from seven domestic games this season - the players' annual trip to Munich's Oktoberfest beer festival was cancelled.
Instead the players were called in for extra training by an unhappy van Gaal.
"The board of FC Bayern Munich has called off the planned visit of the team, the trainers and management to the Munich Oktoberfest," read a club statement.
"Given the sporting situation, coach Louis van Gaal has instead scheduled a training session for 1130."
Meanwhile, president Uli Hoeness has demanded an immediate improvement in results.
"The time has now come when we have got to stop covering things over and we have got to be clear about things," he said.
"The successes in the Champions League are all well and good, but we cannot be happy with the overall situation.
"We have all got to wake up. We have got to stop walking around in a good mood and whistling to ourselves. Enough is enough."Reuse content
