On Tuesday night, a clip emerged on social media showing BT Sport presenter Reshmin Chowdhury appearing to mess up her lines live ahead of their broadcast of Barcelona vs Roma at the Nou Camp, but this was not the case.

While the broadcast did go out during BT Sport's live around-the-grounds preview before the Champions League kick-offs, Chowdhury's clip was a pre-record that had not been edited correctly before being screened, a factor that has been put down to the severe time constraints that occur when covering eight different games across Europe in one night.

The clip went out on TV with some viewers posting it on Twitter. The Independent reported that Chowdhury had mistakenly forgotten that she was live on air, but this proved to be wrong. Chowdhury's clip was filmed prior to it being broadcast, in which case it is very normal for two or three takes to be filmed before the best is selected for a broadcast.

Chowdhury is a familiar face on BT Sport’s Champions League coverage and also presents for BBC Sport’s news updates.

The Independent would like to apologise to her and those who read the original story, which was factually incorrect.
