Red Bull Salzburg can beat ‘world’s best team’ Liverpool, says Erling Braut Haaland

Haaland became the first teenager to score in five successive Champions League games with a goal from the bench against Genk

Erling Braut Haaland says Red Bull Salzburg are capable of beating the “world’s best team” Liverpool FC.

Salzburg host Liverpool next month knowing a win could be enough to take them through to the last 16 of the Champions League.

And while Haaland praised Jurgen Klopp’s side, he thinks the Austrians can beat Liverpool.

“They are the world’s best team,” the striker said, via UEFA.com.

“But we know we are good at home and if we are at our top level, we have a chance.”

Haaland came off the bench to continue his fine goalscoring season against Genk.

Salzburg secured a 4-1 win to keep their hopes alive in Group E.

Napoli‘s draw with Liverpool leaves the Austrians in striking distance of their final group opponents, with a 1-0 win against Liverpool enough to usurp them at the top of the group.

Sazburg troubled the Reds significantly in the reverse fixture, coming back from 3-0 down to nearly earn a point before Mohamed Salah’s winner secured a 4-3 home victory.

Haaland became the first teenager in the history of the European Cup or Champions League to score in five straight competition games.

He now has 27 goals in just 19 games this season, and has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United.
