Bayern Munich were left on the brink of elimination from the Champions League last night after losing 2-0 at home to Bordeaux. The four-time winners of the competition must now win their final two games in Group A to have any hope of reaching the knockout stages.
Yoann Gourcuff gave Bordeaux the lead against the run of play eight minutes before half-time and after Bayern had missed a number of chances, Marouane Chamakh added a second in the last minute to send Laurent Blanc's side into the last 16.
"We did not have any luck tonight," the Bayern coach, Louis van Gaal, said. "We were not lucky but also not good enough but we are still not eliminated. We still have a small chance."
Bayern's problems were compounded by Juventus winning 1-0 against Maccabi Haifa, Mauro Camoranesi getting their goal.
In the other game in Manchester United's group, Wolfsburg earned a 3-0 win at Besiktas to close the gap on Sir Alex Ferguson's side to three points. In Chelsea's group, Porto left it late to win in Cyprus against Apoel Nicosia, but Radamel Falcao's goal with six minutes to go meant the Portuguese side joined Chelsea in the knockout stages.
Marseilles increased the pressure on both Real Madrid and Milan in Group C by brushing aside FC Zurich 6-1 at the Vélodrome. Didier Deschamps' side are now a point behind the leading pair and play them in their final two gamesReuse content
