Zagreb are on an incredible run

Nacho Monreal believes Arsenal have the mental strength to come through their opening Champions League test against Dinamo Zagreb’s own “Invincibles” on Wednesday.

Last season Dinamo became the first team to go through a Croatian top-flight campaign unbeaten and they have not lost since November 2014 in a formidable run of 41 matches.

But Monreal believes Arsène Wenger’s side – who won the Premier League in 2003-04 without losing a match – need to focus on their own strengths rather than worry about what Dinamo can produce at the Maksimir Stadium, where Theo Walcott scored a hat-trick in England’s 4-1 win over Croatia in 2008.

Walcott was on target again as Arsenal beat Stoke 2-0 at the Emirates on Saturday and Spain full-back Monreal said: “Everywhere you play, the atmosphere is massive, it does not matter if it is Champions League or Premier League. But we are used to it and we have the experience to cope with big away matches. We know we can perform well.”
