Beleaguered Valencia manager Gary Neville is expected to join up with the England squad for next month’s international friendlies with the Netherlands and Germany despite his domestic problems.

The 40-year-old is enduring a disastrous spell at the Mestalla and is fighting to save his job with reports in Spain suggesting recently sacked former Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez has been lined up to replace him in the summer.

However, Neville, according to the Daily Mail, still plans on meeting up with Roy Hodgson as part of his duties as an England coach and will be in attendance for the Germany match on March 26 before hosting Holland three days later.

The former Manchester United full-back, though, is set to miss the 40-man get-together of England staff and players at St George’s Park this Thursday as he concentrates on undoing the damage caused by his nightmare start to management at Valencia.

Neville is without a La Liga win in nine games since arriving in December, his side now just four points above the relegation zone. When dropping into the second tier was mentioned during a recent press conference, Neville said: "I'm not even considering that.

"I know the situation we're in. I'm desperate to turn these results around. I will turn these results around."
