Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti admits the media speculation linking coach Jose Mourinho with Real Madrid is coming at an awkward time as the club is trying to focus on the Serie A title race.
Moratti's team heads into the last weekend of the campaign just two points clear of Roma.
"We are only thinking of ending the tournament," said Moratti.
"We don't even know if what is said is true.
"No one wants to be distracted, neither Mourinho nor I."
Mourinho's popularity has grown in Italy since he guided the team into the Champions League Final.
The fact that he led Inter past Real Madrid's rivals Barcelona to get there has increased the speculation linking him to the Bernabeu.
Mourinho led Inter to the Coppa Italia crown last week, the first trophy in a potential treble-winning campaign.
A win on Sunday at Siena would see Inter claim their fifth straight Scudetto, the second under Mourinho.
"Mourinho is a coach that has done very well in his two years at Inter," said Moratti.
"He has a contract to remain with us."
Mourinho is under contract with Inter until June 2012.
