Footballer Jude Bellingham, Paralympic skier Neil Simpson and diver Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix have been named as the top three contenders for the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

Bellingham, 17, became the third-youngest player to win an England cap last month having made the move from Birmingham to Borussia Dortmund.

He settled in quickly with the German side, becoming the club's youngest goalscorer and the youngest Englishman to play in the Champions League.

Simpson, also 17, won two medals at the World Para Alpine Skiing World Cup in Slovenia. With guide and brother Andrew, the teenager won gold in the slalom and bronze in the giant slalom in the visually impaired category.

Sixteen-year-old Spendolini-Sirieix won her first senior British title in the women's 10-metre platform event before claiming her first solo international gold medal at the Fina Diving Grand Prix in Rostock.

The winner will be announced on Blue Peter on CBBC on 10 December and will feature on the main show on BBC One 10 days later.
