Roy Keane tells Liverpool they've 'beaten nobody yet' as Reds prepare for Champions League last 16

The world of football is falling over themselves to praise Liverpool after their 7-0 thrashing of Spartak Moscow. Not Roy Keane, however.

The Reds qualified for the last-16 as Group E winners as they swept aside the Russian champions at Anfield, Philippe Coutinho the hero of the hour with a first hat-trick for the club.

That result made it 23 goals in six matches and has many tipping Jurgen Klopp's men to challenge deep into the tournament. But Keane is less confident suggesting the Merseyside club are yet to play anyone of note.

"Their attacking players enjoyed it but the big tests are yet to come for Liverpool, clearly they've beaten these so called lesser teams, but they've beaten nobody yet," he said on ITV. "It's lovely to watch but they wouldn't get that time and space against a decent team, it's as simple as that.

"Give quality players time on the ball like that and they are going to punish you. The reality is if they are playing a top team in Europe they won't get the time and space, they won't get those opportunities."

"If you know this game then you understand they have so much bigger and tougher tests coming up."

He added: 'If you know this game then you understand they have so much bigger and tougher tests coming up.'

Klopp's side could potentially face one of Real Madrid, Juventus or Bayern Munich, who all finished as runners-up in their respective groups.

Yet despite the intimidating set of potential opponents, Klopp believes that Liverpool's free-scoring 'Fab Four' will give them a chance against any last-16 opponent.

“If we perform like this tonight, if we are that clinical, then yes,” the Liverpool manager said when asked whether his forward line gives his side a 'fear factor'.

“But we had the same players already and they didn't score, and then it is not that we talk like this,” he added. “It's not a criticism of the past. If we perform like this then it is obviously a threat, 100 per cent.”
