Sevilla president Jose Maria Del Nido has quashed speculation linking Brazil international striker Luis Fabiano with a summer switch to AC Milan.

The Rossoneri tried to sign the 29-year-old, who scored twice on Sunday when Brazil beat Ivory Coast 3-1, last summer and chief executive officer Adriano Galliani claimed earlier this week that they may revive their interest in the player.

The forward's agent, Jose Fuentes, also said recently that he had not ruled out the possibility of his client moving to the San Siro.

However, Del Nido told La Repubblica: "We are negotiating with the player over the renewal of his contract. There has not been any contact with Milan.”

Meanwhile, Valencia vice-president Javier Gomez has denied that Juan Mata is on the verge of signing for Barcelona.

It had been reported that the former Real Madrid youngster had agreed a five-year contract with the Catalan giants but Gomez insists no such deal is in place.

He told AS: "There is no agreement and we have not even spoken of Mata with another club. Any offer will be studied for a player but, for Mata, I insist, there is nothing."

The 22-year-old has scored 31 goals in 113 appearances for Los Che since making his debut for the club in September 2007.

Villarreal have allowed Argentinian midfielder Damian Escudero to move to Boca Juniors in his homeland for an undisclosed transfer fee.

The 23-year-old joined the Yellow Submarine from Velez Sarsfield two years ago but he was immediately loaned out to Real Valladolid to gain first-team experience.

Escudero made 15 appearances for Valladolid before returning to Villarreal last summer. However, he featured in only 13 league games last term and never really had a lengthy run in the first team.

Villarreal have held on to 50 per cent of the transfer rights of the player.
