World Cup winning captain Philipp Lahm has suffered a "serious injury in training", Bayern Munich have announced.
The club announced on their Twitter page that the club captain, now retired from international duty, hurt himself in training.
Pictures emerged of the midfielder on the back of a buggy, clearly in pain, being carted off the field.
The club said that Lahm was "currently undergoing an examination", with a "diagnosis due by this evening."

The 31-year-old had started all 11 league match for the Bundesliga leaders so far this season, scoring twice in the 6-0 win against Werder Bremen.
He has also started in all four of the Champions League Group D wins for Pep Guardiola's side.
After leading Joachim Low's Germany to World Cup glory in Brazil, Lahm opted to retire from international football, where he won 113 caps.Reuse content
