Round-Up: Morientes hat-trick sinks Greeks while Vieira sees red
Rafael Benitez was disappointed to leave the Netherlands with just a point last night after the goalless draw with PSV Eindhoven, and how Liverpool could have done with the goalscoring prowess of their former striker Fernando Morientes, who hit a hat-trick in Valencia's 4-2 victory at Sporting Lisbon.
Michalis Konstantinou gave the home side the lead before Morientes grabbed a quickfire brace. Neri Alberto Castillo then equalised before Raul Albiol and Morientes completed the scoring.
It was a bad night for Internazionale, who lost 1-0 at Sporting Lisbon and had Patrick Vieira sent off on his Champions' League debut for a second booking - he was also sent off on his Champions' League debut for Juventus. Sporting's goal came from full-back Marco Caneira.
Bayern Munich's second-half blitz sunk Spartak Moscow. Claudio Pizarro, Roque Santa Cruz and Bastian Schweinsteiger put the hosts 3-0 up before an Owen Hargreaves cross caused pandemonium in the Spartak box and substitute Hasan Salihamidzic tapped in to make it 4-0. Spartak have now gone 18 Champions' League games without a victory.
Rodrigo Taddei, Francesco Totti, Daniele De Rossi and David Pizarro were on target as Roma beat Shakhtar Donetsk 4-0.
