Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling and Dele Alli named among best 23 young players in the world

The strong English contingent suggests that the Three Lions might be ready to roar on the international stage again

England stars Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling and Dele Alli have been included on a list of the world’s top young footballers footballers by Squawka.

The exciting trio join England team-mates John Stones, Jack Butland and Ross Barkley on a definitive list of the 23 best footballers in the world under the age of 23.

The strong English contingent suggests that the Three Lions might be ready to roar on the international stage again.

Football data and analysis website Squawka compiled the elite index of the best young stars in the game in an attempt to highlight the players in pole position to succeed multiple Ballon d’Or winners Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The list was put together "utilising in-depth Opta data from the world’s top leagues," Squawka explained, adding: "Our panel of more than 40 experts and analysts looked at criteria including experience, marketability, maturity, market value and ability to determine the young footballers we are backing to get to the very top of the game,"

Squawka chief content officer Amar Singh said: “Despite a perfect record in qualifying for Euro 2016, expectations around the England team remain low after a dismal World Cup in 2014. But our analysis found that Roy Hodgson has an enviable core of exceptional talents to build his team around this summer and beyond.”

23 Under 23, published by Squawka today, features a host of Premier League stars including Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma, Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin and Manchester United striker Anthony Martial.

Top of the list is Juventus and France star Paul Pogba.

Speaking exclusively to Squawka, his agent Mino Raoila today backed the 22 year-old to win the Ballon d'Or. He told Squawka: "It’s a great honour and privilege for Paul to be named by Squawka as the best young player in the world. Paul’s aim is to get better and better.

“Can he win the Ballon d’Or? He has ambitions to be the best player he can be and reach the top of the world. He is a natural winner. He has a fantastic personality on and off the pitch. He works very hard on his game so it is good to see his football recognised in this way.”
