Nolberto Solano will take any trophy he can as he looks to help end Newcastle United 's 37-year wait for silverware.

Solano returned to St James' Park last year hoping to reprise the Champions' League adventure he enjoyed during his first spell on Tyneside. However, the club's fortunes have dipped since the 2002-03 season.

Yet they have prospered in the Uefa Cup since then, reaching the semi-finals and quarter-finals in successive seasons, and they will book their place in the knockout stage tonight if they beat Celta Vigo at home tonight.

Solano said: "We are hungry for trophies and in any competition we are in, whether it is the Carling Cup, the FA Cup, the Uefa Cup, we have to go for it."

Shola Ameobi is unavailable against Celta having undergone surgery in America to repair his long-standing hip injury.

Glenn Roeder, the Newcastle manager, again contends with a crippling injury list tonight as he looks to seal qualification in a tough Group H which includes Celta, Fenerbahce, Palermo and Eintracht Frankfurt.
