Monday night sees a battle at the bottom as Everton host Crystal Palace with both teams desperate for points and the visitors having had a dramatic afternoon - first with Roy Hodgson resigning, following illness, and then Oliver Glasner being appointed as new manager - though he won’t be in the dugout.

What a chance for Everton! Tarkowski floats the ball into the penalty area and Calvert-Lewin does well to head the ball down to the edge of the box. It falls to Garner who looks to place it into the corner, but Johnstone makes a superb save to deny him and it goes behind for a corner.

Ayew has gone down inside the Everton half, and Mitchell quickly joins him on the deck on the left-hand side. The Everton supporters aren't happy as time ticks away. After a short delay, both players are back on their feet and play can continue.

So close to an equaliser! McNeil cuts inside from the left and creates space for himself to deliver into the box. He floats the ball towards the back post and Calvert-Lewin rises to head towards goal, but it whistles past the post and behind for a goal-kick. It was a great chance for the Everton striker. Mitchell does well to win a corner from Harrison and Palace send their defenders forward. It's whipped into the penalty area towards Richards, but he can't quite connect with it properly. The Eagles regain possession and push down the right, but the Toffees win a throw-in.

Everton have switched to a 4-4-2 setup as they chase an equaliser, with Beto coming on and partnering Calvert-Lewin in attack. Palace are sitting deep as they look to hold onto their lead, with the Toffees throwing everything at it to get back into the game.

The Toffees might feel the goal was against the run of play after they came so close to finding the back of the net just a few minutes earlier, but it was a rare attack from Everton. Ayew took his goal superbly, and Dyche needs to come up with something to get his side back into the game at Goodison Park.

GOOAAAAAALLLL!! 1-0 PALACE!! It's a screamer! The ball comes to Mateta who tussles with Branthwaite, but the striker holds it up well just outside of the box. Onana makes a tackle but it falls to Ayew, who gets it out of his feet and unleashes a thunderous strike towards the top corner, and it flies into the back of the net. What a finish!
