Carlos Tevez and Roberto Mancini have finally had a telephone conversation, leaving the Manchester City manager convinced that the Argentine will play in good faith next season if he fails to find another club.

"I spoke to Carlos four days ago because his telephone is working again," Mancini said, a reference to the hardware failure that prevented them speaking at the time Tevez was spotted meeting with the Internazionale sporting director, Marco Branca, while in Sardinia last month.

Mancini claimed Tevez's mood was good when they spoke last Monday. "Yes, he was happy. He told me he would come back on Monday. Everything was normal. He was happy. I am happy," said Mancini. "At the moment he doesn't have another team. So he'll play for us."
