FA Cup final 2014 team news: Lukasz Fabianski starts in goal for Arsenal as Steve Bruce selects son Alex in Hull defence
Bacary Sagna selected in what is likely his final appearance for the Gunners
Saturday 17 May 2014
Arsene Wenger has kept his faith in goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski as the Arsenal Number Two starts at Wembley in the FA Cup final, meaning regular Wojciech Szczesney will have to watch on from the bench in the showdown with Hull.
Olivier Giroud will lead the line of attack with support coming from the trio of Santi Cazorla, Mesut Özil and Lukas Podolski, with Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey holding in midfield. Bacary Sagna starts aty right-back in what appears to be his final match with the Gunners, as the Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the season and appears to be edging towards a move to Manchester City.
Hull meanwhile start with Matty Fryatt in attack due to the ineligibility of strikers Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic as the two January signings are cup-tied. Former Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone starts in midfield and partners on-loan Spurs star Jake Livermore, with both players admitting that they would love to get one over the north London club for more than one reason.
The Tigers’ manager Steve Bruce has also named his son Alex in the starting line-up, with the 29-year-old named at centre-back.
Arsenal: Fabianski; Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs; Arteta, Ramsey; Cazorla, Özil, Podolski; Giroud.
Subs: Szczesny, Vermaelen, Rosicky, Wilshere, Monreal, Flamini, Sanogo
Hull: McGregor; Davies, Bruce, Chester, Rosenior, Elmohamady, Livermore, Huddlestone, Meyler, Quinn, Fryatt
