Manchester City and Championship side Bristol City go head to head in the first-leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Tuesday night.

City remain unbeaten domestically after coming from behind to knock Burnley out of the FA Cup at the weekend. Pep Guardiola is still looking for his first piece of silverware in England, and his side are two ties away from claiming this season’s first major honour.

Having upset the applecart against United, Bristol City will be hoping to do the same with City and secure their place at Wembley for February’s final. This is the joint furthest stage the Robins have ever reached in the competition.

However, league form has curtailed for Lee Johnson’s side since that memorable win against Manchester United, winning just one of their last five matches, including a 5-0 defeat at promotion rivals Aston Villa. Korey Smith is the only injury doubt for Bristol City but is expected to recover from a knock, while Eros Pisano, Jens Hegeler, Gary O’Neill, Callum O’Dowda, Ivan Lucic and Famara Diedhiou are definitely out.

Gabriel Jesus and Benjamin Mendy are Manchester City’s long-term absentees, while Phil Foden is likely to be sidelined with an ankle injury. However, Vincent Kompany could return after a calf problem.
