Arsenal kept the defence of their FA Cup title on track with a deserved win over Manchester United.

Nacho Monreal opened the scoring after 25 minutes following a high tempo start to the match. The Arsenal full-back was given his chance on a silver platter after wonderful footwork from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the build-up.

However Arsenal's lead wasn't to last long. Just four minutes later Wayne Rooney scored his 14th goal against the Gunners with a diving header connected with Angel Di Maria's whipped cross.

Arsenal re-took the lead through Danny Welbeck who was making his first return to Old Trafford following his summer transfer. The England international rounded David De Gea to slide the ball into an empty net after capitalising on a dreadful back-pass from Antonio Valencia.

Before the match was out, Angel Di Maria saw red in strange circumstances, picking up two yellow cards within second.
