Manchester United have named Alexis Sanchez in their starting XI to face Yeovil Town in the FA Cup fourth round.

Sanchez’s debut comes at Huish Park five days after being announced as a United player following his swap deal with Arsenal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The Chilean will play from the left of the front three with Juan Mata on the right and Marcus Rashford as the central striker.

Michael Carrick captains the side on his first appearance of the season after a heart problem in what will be his 461st Manchester United appearance. He is due to retire and join Jose Mourinho’s coaching staff at the end of the season.

Scott McTominay starts in attacking midfield, while there are places for Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw in the full-back positions.

Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and David De Gea all didn’t travel to the West Country for the game but teenager Angel Gomes – cousin of Nani – is named on the bench after making his debut in the final game of last season.

Manchester United line-up: Romero, Darmian, Lindelof, Rojo, Shaw, Carrick, Herrera, Mata, McTominay, Sanchez, Rashford.

Substitutes: Pereira, Smalling, Young, Gomes, Lingard, Matic, Lukaku.
