Lloyd Dyer secures Championship title for Leicester City

Leicester City clinched the Championship title with two games to spare, a 1-0 win at Bolton moving Nigel Pearson's side seven points clear of Burnley in second.

Lloyd Dyer was the hero for Leicester, coming off the bench to provide the cutting edge just after the hour in a game the visitors dominated against a Bolton side with little to play for.

Dyer cut in from the left flank on the 62rd minute and smashed a right-footed drive which soared into the Adam Bodgan's top corner.

Earlier Andy King had a shot deflected off target while Anthony Knockaert also fired wide when in a good position. David Nugent was unable to get great purchase on Riyad Mahrez's cross, while Bolton's Zat Knight, under no duress, headed inches over his own crossbar.

It is the seventh time Leicester have won the second-tier title, a new record. They need four more points from their final two games to reach the 100 points.

Reading moved into sixth and the final play-off place with a timely return to winning ways at the Madejski Stadium. After going seven home games without a victory, a run stretching back to January, Nigel Adkins' side saw off Middlesbrough 2-0 tonight.

Top scorer Adam Le Fondre set Reading on their way with a close-range finish in the ninth minute. Five minutes later it was two when Boro defender George Friend headed Jordan Obita's free-kick from the right into his own net.
