Reading co-chairwoman pens excruciating new club song... that includes a rap verse

'They call us the Royals' will be played ahead of Leeds game on Saturday

The co-chairwoman of Reading FC has written a new club song that will be played at the club's first home game of the season against Leeds United.

Khunying Sasima Svrikorn has co-written 'They Call us the Royals' with the song to be played ahead of kick-off on Saturday at the Madejski Stadium - the song includes a rap verse and a music video that will be beamed on the big screen.

Lady Svikorn has said she wrote the song as "a gift" to the club.

“I, along with my friends, wrote a song as a gift for Reading Football Club,” she told Get Reading.

“We have made a music video together with it. So it will be an opening show. I was in the studio for many days doing that. It’s so meaningful for us to open the season well and for us to feel the spirit and the emotion of the fans with us. They have to be inside us.

“So we wrote the song which I’m pretty proud of. We tried to do the song in a trendy way. I used to compose songs for my country, we did the Asian games, by this one we’re aiming at the crowd. This is British rock.”

She added: “This is a good opportunity to welcome our fans to the first home game of the season.

“I didn’t do it alone. I did it with friends. The one who wrote the melody is a world class composer, his name is Henrik Algren, he’s a friend of my friend’s son.

“We worked together well. I shared my idea, my concept. I wrote something and he corrected it. We had a lot of fun. But I can’t claim I did it on my own.”
