Round-Up: Watford earn battling draw after Taylor pounces in injury time

Martin Taylor scored a dramatic injury-time equaliser to earn Watford a 2-2 draw with Birmingham at Vicarage Road yesterday.

Just eight minutes after Watford's Marvin Sordell cancelled out Adam Rooney's first-half effort for the visitors, forward Chris Wood looked to have struck the match-winner for Birmingham with only two minutes left to play, before Taylor's crucial goal arrived.

Brighton manager Gus Poyet praised Ryan Harley after the midfielder scored with a stunning free-kick to cap a 2-0 win over Peterborough on Saturday, extending the Seagulls' unbeaten run and putting them top of the table.

"It's very important for us to have a player at the club who can score like that," reflected Poyet of Harley, whose curling 30-yard set-piece in the 64th minute came after Craig Noone's long-range opener.

Leicester manager Sven Goran Eriksson expressed his gratitude to goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, who kept the score at 3-2 despite a second-half surge by Southampton, ensuring City earned their first home win of the season.

Leicester finished the first-half 3-1 up after efforts from Darius Vassell, Richie Wellens and an own-goal by Rickie Lambert, with Dan Harding scoring for the visitors. However, Southampton improved after the break and striker David Connolly headed home in the 53rd minute.

They went close to equalising three times in the last eight minutes, but each chance was repelled by Leicester's Danish goalkeeper. "They were better in the second half," conceded Eriksson. "Kasper saved us."
