Croatia bounced back from their controversial opening defeat to Brazil to record an emphatic 4-0 victory over Cameroon, sending the Africans crashing out of the World Cup in the process.

After Iviva Olic opened the scoring for the Croatians, Cameroon still harboured hopes of getting back into the match and keeping their hopes of progression alive. But a moment of madness from former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song saw him elbow Mandzukic in the back right in front of referee Pedro Proenca, and he was instantly dismissed to end his participation in the Brazil even earlier than his nation's.

Afterwards, Ivan Perisic doubled the score, before Bayern Munich striker Mandzukic added a brace to round out the scoring. Mandzukc's haul showed what a threat he can be, and the Croatians will be ruing not having him available for the Brazil defeat due to a suspension.

The result sets up a winner-takes-all match between Croatia and Mexico on Monday night, where the Europeans must beat their opponents in order to qualify for the last-16. A draw will be enough for Mexico to progress.
