Diego Costa and Sergio Ramos had to be split up by Spain manager Vincente del Bosque after a light-hearted tangle in training.

The pair were once adversaries in La Liga, with the striker plying his trade at Atletico Madrid while Ramos marshalled the defence of city rivals Real.

Since Costa opted to play for the Spanish national team, however, the two have become friends - although you may not have guessed as much while watching them yesterday.

After the Chelsea striker struck his team-mate with a cheeky elbow, Ramos took his revenge and tripped Costa, sending him sprawling out on the deck.

The two begin to laugh and bicker, before Del Bosque steps in and splits them up, urging them to save themselves for Saturday's game against Slovakia.

Spain currently sit second in Group C, three points behind their next opponents.

The reigning European champions lost away to Slovakia 2-1 in the reverse fixture last September, in one of the qualifying stages' most shocking results.
