Steven Gerrard is expected to miss Liverpool's Premiership game at Leeds United tomorrow because of the injury he picked up while playing for England in Wednesday night's draw with Macedonia. Gerrard is also doubtful for next Tuesday's Champions' League match against Spartak Moscow in Russia.

"I think my hip might be a problem for the weekend," the midfielder said. "I don't know about next week. I got a nasty bang when I went up for a header. It's swelled up a bit as it's bruised, so I'll be in a bit of pain for a few days at least."

He joins Emile Heskey (groin) and Chris Kirkland (back) on Liverpool's injury list after this week's senior and under-21 internationals.

Gerrard admitted responsibility for Macedonia's second goal during the embarrassing 2-2 draw. "I gave the ball away in midfield," he said. "You can't do that, so we got punished."
