Luis Suarez bite: Twitter reacts after the Uruguay striker says he 'lost his balance and fell on top of his opponent'
The best of the reaction from Twitter after Luis Suarez offers his defence for biting Giorgio Chiellini
Luis Suarez's response to his four-month ban was ridiculed on Twitter after the Uruguayan star claimed he 'lost his balance and fell on his opponent'.
The 27-year-old was handed a nine-game ban at international level for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini and was controversially given a four-month ban which prohibits him from taking part in any football activity.
Suarez has been sent home to his native Uruguay and received something of a hero's welcome from the fans, but it appears that Twitter is not so forgiving.

The Liverpool striker, when responding to FIFA's charges, claimed that he 'lost his balance and fell on his opponent', and strenuously denies biting Chiellini.
FIFA disagreed with the striker's bizarre statement, and the world of Twitter erupted into laughter when learning of Suarez's line of defence.

Everyone supporting Suarez or excusing him just look at his alleged aberration of a defence. If true: cheat, liar, fraud. Deserves his ban— Graham Hunter (@BumperGraham) June 28, 2014

But it appears not everyone is against Suarez.
The striker was given a hero's welcome when he arrived in Montevideo and thanked the fans for their 'support and love', breaking his Twitter silence.
"Hi all, I write this post to give thanks to the outpouring of support and love I am receiving. Both myself and my family really appreciate it.
"Thank you very much for being by my side and I want all my colleagues today we support selection for the match against Colombia."
Suarez is out of the World Cup due to his ban and will also be unavailable for Liverpool until October 26 if he fails to overturn his ban.
