Harry Kane will start from the bench when England face Lithuania at Wembley tonight.

Despite scoring 29 goals in all competitions for Tottenham this season - the highest mark among English Premier League strikers - England manager Roy Hodgson has opted to stick with Arsenal man Danny Welbeck for the game against the 94th best team in the world ahead of the 21-year-old.

England have won all four of their matches in Group E so far so there is a case to be made for keeping a line-up that has performed well, but those on social media were quick to criticise the England boss, especially as Welbeck only has eight goals in all competitions for Arsenal this season.

Hodgson, sticking with his diamond formation, also drew anger for appearing to select three midfielders - Michael Carrick, Jordan Henderson and Fabian Delph - who aren't the most attacking in the world.

Below is some of the best reaction:

England kick-off at 7.45pm
