The 2015/2016 season has not even started and already there's a good shout for the Puskas Award – and from an unlikely contender.

While most people were either gearing up for Harper Lee’s new novel or recovering from the weekend, the knowledgeable football addict would have known to have kept an eye out for the friendly tie between Bundesliga side Paderborn and Bolton.

Not only would any viewer of this match have noticed the evident gulf between the Championship and Germany's top league - Paderborn won 4-1 - but they would have been treated to an exquisite goal from Marcel Ndjeng.

The 33-year-old midfielder struck the sweetest of volleys from the centre circle, with the ball travelling 40 yards as it sailed past the fingertips of the Bolton keeper into the back of the net.

The reaction of the Paderborn bench - in a non-competitive pre-season friendly - shows just how good a strike it was.

Bolton and Paderborn have been twin towns since 1975, hence the friendly fixture. Bolton begin the Championship season at home to Derby on August 8.
