Six months ago, Julio Cesar was sitting on the QPR bench wondering whether he would ever get his career back on track. On Saturday evening, the veteran goalkeeper was the hero, saving several efforts against Chile in a World Cup penalty shootout ensuring Brazil's dream to win the tournament on home soil was still alive.

Cesar might have flopped in the Premier League but he is certainly not the only one to have excelled in Brazil after a poor spell in England.

As a matter of fact, his experience in the Premier League appears to have had a repetitive effect, with a host of Premier League flops performing better in South America.

Almost reminiscent of Diego Forlan's disastrous spell with Manchester United, followed by a series of impressive stints in Spain with Villarreal and Atletico Madrid, the World Cup has given some players the opportunity for redemption.
