The World Cup in Brazil is coming into view and everyone is hoping this summer's carnival can take its place among some of the great tournaments of the past, but who will be the star of the show?

With 80 days to go until things kick-off, check out our latest instalment of 100 players to look out for at the competition below.

80. Oribe Peralta (Mexico)

If there’s one striker in Group A that Brazil’s accomplished centre backs will fear, it’s not Mandzukic or Eto’o, but the unheralded Peralta. Not only is Mexico’s number 9 one of the form strikers in international football, with 11 goals in his last nine appearances for El Tri, but he also has previous against the Selecao. Rewind to the men’s football final at the London Olympics. Brazil’s household names seemed a sure bet to claim gold, but the unknown Peralta turned those predictions upside-down within 32 seconds with a superb strike from outside the box, before adding a headed second to clinch the title. No-one will be expecting a repeat of those heroics at this tournament, but Peralta’s goals could certainly fire a far-from-vintage Mexico side into the knockout stages.

Did you know? After Peralta’s performance in the Olympic final, fans got the hashtag #ImAnOribeliever trending on Twitter.
