Jose Mourinho might be hard-pressed to put a name to the face. The Chelsea manager might even need a reminder that Scott Sinclair is one of the champions' own players. But on Saturday the 17-year-old forward, on loan to Plymouth Argyle for a month, scored a phenomenal solo goal that will have burnt itself into the memory of all who were at Underhill to see it.

Sinclair, fast, elusive, skilful and powerful, ran from his own half to deliver Plymouth's second goal and ensure that Ian Holloway's side eliminated Barnet to progress to the fifth round of the FA Cup. It was a marvellous goal.

"He is just a kid and if too much is written about him, it will all get a bit embarrassing for him," said Holloway, who first worked with Sinclair when he was Bristol Rovers' manager seven years ago. "He belongs to Chelsea. I won't be signing him for the long term. They're not that stupid, are they?"

Sinclair's goal sealed a victory that, for much of this enjoyable encounter, did not look too certain. Barnet dominated the first half and went close to breaking the deadlock.

Plymouth clawed their way back and took the lead after 67 minutes when David Norris was tripped in the penalty area. The defender Hasney Aljofree tucked away the spot-kick.

Barnet pushed for an equaliser before Sinclair, who had come on as a substitute, picked up the ball in his own half, burst past a series of defenders and slotted the ball beyond the Barnet goalkeeper Ross Flitney.

Aljofree said: "The first day he came in we did 'attacking v defending' and every single one of the back four said that we didn't want to mark him. We had just seen him warm up and he was lightning.

"The first attack they had, he absolutely skinned us," Aljofree added. "He's quick, can run with the ball and has a trick. The world's his oyster."
