Carlos Tevez returned to boyhood club Boca Juniors after 11 years away on Monday night.

The 40,000 Bombonera was filled to capacity for the return of the prodigal son.

"I'm coming home and I want to share it with all of you! My official presentation will be on Monday, July 13 at 6.30 pm at the Bombonera Stadium, with free admission," Tevez wrote on his Twitter page.

La Bombonera was packed to its 40,000 capacity

But the free admission came with a twist. It was free to any supporter who wanted to be in attendance - all they had to do was donate a non-perishable food item to the Bichito de Luz, the impoverished area of the city where Tevez grew up.

Tevez helped Juventus win the double and get to the final of the Champions League last season, but revealed his delight at returning to the club he first joined as a 13-year-old.

"When I left Boca I was 20 years old," he said. "Now, at 31, I'm bigger, more experienced, and I need to be an example for the youngest players. I'm back in my best form at the moment.

"I have been thinking about coming back here for a year."

Tevez is likely to play his first game against Quilmes on Saturday.
