Gunn was appointed caretaker manager after Roeder was sacked. He was appointed as manager on 21st Jan 2009. So his debut as manager was a 2-2 draw against Southampton on 27th Jan.

The Independent even reported the appointment in January - http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/football-league/gunn-lands-norwich-job-1457498.html

It is correct that Gunn took care of Norwich after the sacking of Roeder on 21 January 2009; however, this was on a temporary basis (until the end of the season). The appointment as permanent manager was only confirmed on 13 May 2009.

How can Norwich sack Gunn for that start when it was only the start of the season , they have shown bad judgement plus the colchester manager who beat him quit and took his job , does that seem odd ?.
arsenal battered everton but no one question David Moyes' appointment .
