Freddy Adu, once known as the "new Pele", and the youngest ever US athlete to sign a professional contact, aged 14, has dismissed reports that he is now working as a nightclub promoter, instead writing on Twitter that is just hosting events at a Washington nightclub.
Adu, now 25, is without a club having been let go by Serbian side FK Jagodina, the 10th team of his nomadic career.
Reports surfaced over the weekend that the player, signed by many on the computer game Football Manager because of his wonderkid status, was now working as a nightclub promoter but he has taken to Twitter to deny this.
It's crazy to even think someone can mistake a host for a nightclub promoter. Can't believe someone actually thought that lol. #neverendsFreddy Adu (@FreddyAdu) February 13, 2015
