Mesut Ozil booed: Germany fans wrong to jeer players after 1-0 win over Chile, says Oliver Bierhoff, but captain Philipp Lahm says it was deserved

Mesut Ozil was booed by German supporters after they laboured to a 1-0 victory over Chile in Stuttgart, despite making the assist for Mario Gotze's 16th-minute winner.
While they have stopped short of booing, Ozil has failed to impress Arsenal faithful with his recent performances, and has been left out of the starting line-up for the Gunners' last two matches.
The jeers from the fans at the Mercedes-Benz stadium have confused Germany team manager Oliver Bierhoff, who said that he could not understand the reaction to the player.
"At the time, with the score [at 1-0], I did not understand the whistles. I find it a pity that a player like Mesut is singled out," Bierhoff, who won 70 caps for the international side, said.
The Germany captain, Philipp Lahm, however was less than happy with their performance, admitting that they were "lucky" to beat the South Americans, and deserved the jeers.
"The fans paid to see this match and they wanted a better performance, you have to accept [the jeers]," Lahm said after the match.
"We have some work ahead of us and we are aware of that. We have to learn from this match. We will be better prepared at the World Cup."
