A Paris Saint-Germain supporter in Gabon killed a friend who mocked him over the Ligue 1 club’s crushing defeat at the hands of Barcelona.

An 18-year-old man stabbed his friend in the neck after they watched the extraordinary 6-1 thrashing together in a bar in Libreville on Wednesday night, according to the AFP news agency.

The victim, who had been teasing his killer over PSG’s elimination, died immediately from his injuries.

The alleged attacker was reportedly “intoxicated” at the time of the incident and although he admitted to the killing, he claimed he did not intend to end his friend’s life.

PSG were denied a place in this season’s Champions League quarter-finals despite beating Barcelona 4-0 in the first leg at the Parc des Princes.

Edinson Cavani’s 62nd-minute away goal looked likely to be enough to guide Unai Emery’s side through, despite them being 3-1 behind on the night.

However, a Neymar-inspired late show saw the hosts score three times in the final seven minutes, with qualification sealed by Sergi Roberto’s strike deep into stoppage time.
