Radamel Falcao is yet to make much of an impact on the pitch for Manchester United, but in terms of shirt sales the Colombian has performed phenomenally.

In the week following transfer deadline day the new United No.9 shirt accounted for a whopping 33 per cent of all Premier League shirt sales globally.

Next best was his new team-mate Angel Di Maria, who also arrived at Old Trafford over the summer. The Argentinian, who wears the iconic No.7 shirt, accounted for 24 per cent of all sales.

In comparison, Alexis Sanchez, who joined Arsenal from Barcelona and Mario Balotelli who switched to Liverpool from AC Milan made up 13 per cent of total sales.

The figures were revealed by online sportwear retailer Kitbag. The figures also indicated the most popular players at individual clubs, with Di Maria actually proving more popular than Falcao domestically, with 20.6 per cent of Manchester United shirts bought from the company bearing his name.

At Arsenal Sanchez commanded 36.4 per cent of personalised shirts and at Chelsea Cesc Fabregas was the most popular.

Amongst the top selling teams, it was only at Manchester City and Liverpool that players at the club prior to this summer were the most popular when it came to domestic shirt sales, with Sergio Aguero and Steven Gerrard topping sales respectively.
