Cesc Fabregas (17 years, 113 days), ARSENAL v Blackburn (25/8/04)
The only player in the list to have achieved any international honours, the Spaniard has won the World Cup and two European Championships, as well as an FA Cup and Copa Del Ray winners' medals since scoring in his debut season for Arsenal.

Michael Owen (17 years, 143 days), LIVERPOOL v Wimbledon (6/5/07)
Owen scored on his league debut, but he really burst onto the scene in his second season with 18 goals. He went on to score 118 league goals for the Liverpool, as well as 40 for England, before sealing a high-profile move to Real Madrid. The striker's career was blighted by injury in the years that followed, and he is currently on a one-year deal with Stoke City. Owen was the last British player to win the Ballon D'or.

Federico Macheda (17 years, 226 days), MANCHESTER UNITED v Aston Villa (5/4/09)
The young Italian began his United career with a bang, scoring a dramatic, last-gasp winner against Aston Villa in April 2009, helping the Red Devils to clinch the league title that season. He has since struggled for first team football at United, and has been loaned out to Sampdoria and QPR respectively, before returning to Manchester in early 2012 after injury ended his season.

Raheem Sterling (17 years, 317 days), LIVERPOOL v Reading (20/10/12)
Having scored his debut league goal against reading on Saturday, Sterling becomes Liverpool's second youngest goal scorer. The Jamaican-born winger has represented England at Under-16 to 21 levels, and was called up to the full squad in September. Sterling is touted as one of the brightest young talents in the game, and has been tipped for an illustrious career with England.

Mikael Forssell (17 years, 342 days), CHELSEA v Nottingham Forest (20/2/99)
Generally deemed one of the best Finnish players of all time, Forrsell scored his debut league goal for Chelsea in 1999 against Nottingham Forest. The striker left west London in search of first team opportunities, and following a successful loan spell at Birmingham City, was transferred to the midlands club in 2005. Forssell spent last season at Leeds United and is currently a free agent.

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling became one of the youngest goalscorers in Premier League history at the weekend with his winner against Reading.

Inevitably, the plaudits have followed and the 17-year-old is being tipped for greatness.
