Tim Wiese offered WWE role after German goalkeeper packs on muscle

Former Germany goalkeeper Tim Wiese has revealed he has been offered a stint in the WWE as a wrestler.

The 32-year-old has been a free agent since January after being released from his contract at Hoffenheim following a poor spell - he arrived with a big reputation at the club and was named captain but was dropped after conceding 15 goals in four matches and then picking up an injury.

Speaking to German newspaper Bild Wiese, who weighs 18st, revealed his contract offer from the leading wrestling company.

"I have an official enquiry from the WWE," he is quoted as saying. "It's about working for them as a wrestler. I will listen.

"I don't s*** my pants. Why should I immediately say no? Wrestling is very popular, especially in the States. I will go through the enquiry with my agent next week."

Wiese won six caps for Germany between 2008 and 2012 and was the nation's third choice goalkeeper for the 2010 World Cup. He also won the DFB-Pokal Cup with Werder Bremen in 2009.

The paper states that the former goalkeeper would spend a year training in Orlando, Florida, before becoming a lead part in the WWE's plans for expansion in Germany.

Events are now being broadcast on freeview television there for the first time in more than a decade.
