Capello to unveil Ramsey tribute

England coach Fabio Capello will unveil a sculpture of World Cup-winning boss Sir Alf Ramsey at Wembley on Friday.

Sir Geoff Hurst, Sir Bobby Charlton and Bobby Moore's widow Stephanie will also be on hand for the commemoration, while another 1966 hero, George Cohen, will represent Ramsey's wife, Lady Victoria.

The sculpture has been crafted by Philip Jackson, the artist behind iconic statues such as the one of Moore, which is already in place at Wembley, and also the Manchester United 'Trinity' of Charlton, Denis Law and George Best that sits outside Old Trafford.

Jackson commented: "My thinking behind it all was to create something that will inspire the current national team and, at the same time, put the frighteners on the opposition!

"Sir Alf was well known for being firm and was a very strong individual so I hope those steely qualities come over through the sculpture."

The sculpture is set to take a permanent place in the tunnel area at Wembley and, speaking from her home in Ipswich, Lady Victoria Ramsey added: "The sculpture of Alfred looks outstanding and the unveiling at Wembley is very appropriate."
