Arsenal, Man City, Manchester United and West Ham remain in battle for top four
The Gunners only managed to add a point to their tally with a 0-0 draw with Sunderland
Arsenal’s point at Sunderland on Sunday took them back level with Manchester City in the race for Champions League qualification, with the pair well set to secure top four spots.
FA Cup finalists Manchester United sit five points further back, with a game in hand, with West Ham three points behind them. Liverpool also have a mathematical chance of making the top four, but Southampton are now out of the equation.
Victory for Arsenal at home to Norwich next Saturday would take them to 67 points, which, coupled with a West Ham defeat at West Brom the same afternoon and given Liverpool’s inferior goal difference, be almost enough, given that West Ham and Manchester United still have to play each other in their remaining games.
Manchester City can then do likewise as they travel to Southampton on Sunday, although that match comes in between Champions League semi-final legs for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, arguably a more pressing concern. They also face Arsene Wenger’s side on the penultimate weekend – the winners of which would be assured of a place in Europe’s elite next season.
