Aaron Ramsey has sent out a warning to Arsenal’s main rivals Tottenham ahead of this Sunday’s north London derby by insisting the Gunners are heading into the clash confident of a win.

Arsenal fought from two goals down in their Champions League trip to Ludogorets on Tuesday to clinch a late 3-2 victory courtesy of Mesut Özil’s stunning late winner and seal their progression to the last-16. The win over the Bulgarian champions also represented Ramsey’s first start since he injured his hamstring on the opening weekend of the season in the 4-3 loss to Liverpool, and while he showed a fair bit of rustiness, the Wales international was clearly happy to be back.

“I’m delighted to be back,” Ramsey told www.arsenal.com. “It was a bit of a blow [to be injured] but that was what I needed tonight - to start a game and get those minutes under my belt. That’ll set me in good shape now and my target is to just stay fit and play as much as I can.

“It was difficult after we went 2-0 down but we showed great character and belief to come back into the game. We got the goals before half-time and that helped our half-time team talk. It was a tough game, but an enjoyable one and obviously I’m delighted with that.”

Arsenal now turn their attentions to Sunday’s visit of Tottenham to the Emirates Stadium for the first north London derby of the season, where a victory for Arsene Wenger’s side will see them keep pace at the top of the Premier League as they currently sit level on points with leaders Manchester City.

Victory for Spurs, however, will hand them a way back into the fold after they hit a rough patch of form, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side failing to win their last five matches in all competitions and dropping six points over the last two weeks.

25-year-old Ramsey believes that with the momentum generated by their 15-match unbeaten run in all competitions that stretches back to the Liverpool defeat, Arsenal can be confident of gaining a result against Spurs.

“We’re on a strong run at the moment and we’re looking forward to the north London derby on Sunday,” Ramsey added. “It was important to keep the momentum going tonight and we come through with a win so we’re in good shape going into that game and hopefully we can come away with a win there as well.”

Arsenal have the added bonus of enjoying an extra day off ahead of the match after they played Ludogorets on Tuesday, with Spurs playing in the Champions League a day later as they take on Bayer Leverkusen at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday night.
