Arsene Wenger future: Olivier Giroud says the Arsenal manager has to sign a new contract and guide the team to the Premier League title next season

Wenger's deal at the Emirates expires at the end of the season

Arsene Wenger can deliver the Premier League title for Arsenal next season if he stays at the club, claims striker Olivier Giroud.

Wenger is yet to sign a new deal with the Gunners, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Arsenal have to the chance to end their nine-year trophy drought next month when they take on Hull City in the FA Cup final, and Giroud, who has scored 14 goals for the club this season, hopes that his compatriot stays in charge after this summer.

"Of course we all want him [Wenger] to continue the adventure," Giroud said.

"I’m sure that next season we can challenge for the title – I hope, right until the end [of the season] – and we need the coach. We need his experience. He must stay.

"Things are better, we’ve got a bit of serenity back with regards to fourth place [after back-to-back wins over West Ham and Hull, they have moved back ahead of Everton].

"I would say the main objective really is to finish fourth – we know that the Champions League is a vital objective for the club.

"We’ve played in it for 16 years in a row and I don’t want to be part of the team that doesn’t play in it.

"But the FA Cup Final is also very, very important for the club."

Wenger took charge at Arsenal back in September 1996, and has managed over 1,000 matches fore the Gunners.
