Barcelona are set to launch a bid for Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina according to various reports.
The news comes after the European champions saw their contract talks with current number one Victor Valdes break down.
Valdes, who has a year left on his contract, has been pushing for parity with Xavi, who is paid £150,000 a week.
Barcelona are refusing to go that high and have been considering their options, and now appear to have set their sights on Liverpool stopper Reina.
Barcelona beleive a bid of £17m would test Liverpool's resolve, especially considering the financial difficulties the Anfield club are currently in.
Liverpool may also have to fight off Barca interest in midfielder Javier Mascherano. The Catalan club have already enquired after the Argentinean but Rafael Benitez has rebuffed their efforts, insisting even a bid of £50m wouldn't tempt him to sell.Reuse content
